Event, cause and corrective measures
number
501
Grid fault / Grid frequency disturbance (501)
The power frequency is not within the permissible range. The inverter has disconnected
from the utility grid.
Corrective measures:
• If possible, check the power frequency and observe how often major fluctuations
occur.
If fluctuations occur frequently and this message is displayed often, contact the grid
operator. The grid operator must approve changes to the operating parameters of
the inverter.
If the grid operator gives his approval, discuss any changes to the operating
parameters with the SMA Service Line.
1001
Installation failure grid connection / L/N swapped (1001)
The conductors L and N are swapped or PE is not connected.
Corrective measures:
• Check whether the inverter is correctly connected at the connecting terminal plate
Inverter of the Sunny Multigate.
If the inverter is not correctly connected, disconnect it from voltage sources
(see Section 9, page 49), disconnect the Sunny Multigate from voltage sources
(see Section 10, page 51) and connect the conductors L, N and PE correctly.
• Check whether the AC field plugs between the inverters were correctly assembled.
Disconnect the inverter from voltage sources (see Section 9, page 49), disassemble
the AC field plug and assemble it correctly (see Section 6.6.2, page 37).
If the inverter is connected correctly, the AC field plug assembled correctly and this
message is still displayed, contact the SMA Service Line.
3401
DC overvoltage / Overvoltage input A (SW) (3401)
The DC input voltage connected to the inverter is too high. This can destroy the inverter.
Corrective measures:
1. Immediately disconnect the PV module from the inverter.
2. Check whether the DC voltage is below the maximum input voltage of the inverter.
If the DC voltage is below the maximum input voltage of the inverter, reconnect
the DC connectors to the inverter.
If the DC voltage is above the maximum input voltage of the inverter, ensure that
the PV module has been correctly rated or contact the installer of the PV module.
If this message is repeated frequently, contact the SMA Service Line.
