GPIB Connection

11801C User Manual
The 11801C can be controlled by a remote computer, through one of two
interfaces. These interfaces are industry standards IEEE Std 488 and
RS 232 C. IEEE Std 488 is also known as the General Purpose Interface Bus
or GPIB.
This manual does not discuss the details of connecting a remote computer
to the 11801C or the syntax and capabilities of remote commands. That
information is found in the CSA 803C and 11801C Programmer Manual.
Connect the cable from your GPIB controller (computer) to the IEEE STD
488 PORT connector on the 11801C rear panel. See Figure 3 39. Three red
lights show the internal GPIB status of the 11801C:
H
SRQ (Service Request) is lighted whenever the 11801C activates the
Service Request line. This indicates to the controller that the 11801C has
requested service.
H
NRFD (Not Ready For Data) is lighted whenever the 11801C is not yet
ready for the next data byte.
H
NDAC (Not Data Accepted) is lighted whenever a data byte is on the
bus but has not yet been captured by any listener device.
