Protect against natural environmental
conditions that can be damaging to an
outboard. Your warranty does not cov-
er engine failure caused by these
conditions.

Stabilize the fuel supply. Fuel remain-
ing in your fuel tank can oxidize, re-
sulting in loss of octane and fuel
system deposits.
Use BRP 2+4 Fuel Conditioner to pre-
vent gum and varnish deposits from
forming in fuel system components.

If the outboard is removed from the
boat for transportation or storage, you
MUST:
– Seal the oil and fuel lines on the
boat and on the outboard to pre-
vent leaks and prevent contami-
nants from entering the oil or fuel
system.
– Cap steering fittings on the out-
board and hydraulic hoses to pre-
vent leaks and prevent
contaminants from entering the hy-
draulic system.
– Block the air intake hose to pre-
vent the intrusion of debris.

If you must tilt the outboard to remove
it from the water, lower it and allow the
cooling system to drain completely as
soon as you clear the launch area. Be-
tween uses, store your outboard in a
vertical position.

Winterization prepares your outboard
for long-term off-season storage. Dur-
ing
winterization,
"fogged" with extra oil to coat internal
engine components.
Winterization requires a specific proc-
ess of steps.
Closely follow the winterization proce-
dure for your outboard.
You can confirm that your outboard
has entered winterization mode when
the engine runs at fast idle and:
the
engine
is
