Your outboard is equipped with one or
more sacrificial anodes that protect it
from galvanic corrosion. Disintegra-
tion of the anode is normal and indi-
cates it is working. Check each anode
periodically. Replace anodes smaller
than 2/3 their original size. See an au-
thorized BRP dealer for replacements.
1. Anode
Galvanic corrosion destroys under-
water metal parts and can occur in
fresh or salt water; however, salt,
brackish, and polluted waters will ac-
celerate corrosion.
Metal-based anti-fouling paint on the
outboard and the use of improperly in-
stalled shore power in the area of your
moored boat will also accelerate
corrosion.

1. Open
the
hatch cover (location may differs
depending on the boat model).
2. Place
outboard
(DOWN) position in a well venti-
lated area.
3. Remove the cap from the flushing
port.

4. Thread the garden hose onto the
flushing port.
5. Turn water supply on.
6. Run outboard at IDLE only until full
operating temperature is reached.
7. Leave the outboard in VERTICAL
(DOWN) position long enough for
appropriate
access
in
VERTICAL
