connections before you proceed in order to prevent a short circuit. If the polarity is
accidentally reversed, 12VDC at high current will melt the PNET cables, so please use
caution with these high current sources.

4.6 Ethernet Connection

The Layout Lighting Solution requires a Wired Ethernet Connection in order to
communicate with a web browser for setup and configuration. Simply plug the included
Ethernet Cable to a local Ethernet connection on your home network. The Layout
Lighting Solution supports 10/100 Mbit Ethernet. If the included cable is not long
enough, feel free to change to a longer cable as needed.

4.7 Connecting PNET Cables

PNET is the PRICOM Network, it is based on the CAN automation bus, and is a multi-
drop broadcast style of network. PNET modules can be daisy chained with standard 6-
wire modular wiring of the "straight through" variety. Your Starter Kit includes enough
PNET cables to get you going. If you need to make more, or make longer cables, use the
same wire you use for your cab bus. Digitrax, NCE, and others all use the same style of
connectors and cabling. We chose this type of connector so that you would not have to
run out and buy more tools or cable. We also offer a complete line of assembled and
tested PNET cables on our web site
There needs to be at least ONE terminator in order for PNET to
function. Ideally, there should be one at each end of your PNET Bus.

4.8 DIP Switch Settings

Operating modes are set using the on-board DIP Switch. The most important setting is
the "slot number". The slots are numbered from 0-63, using the DIP Switch position 1-6
to set the slot number desired.
