    Installing the ribbon cartridge Remove ribbon cartridge from the plastic bag. Detach blue ribbon shield form cartridge.   • Page 9: Connecting The Printer To The Power Source

    Move the printhead several times to make sure the ribbon is installed and functioning properly. After installing the ribbon cartridge, reposition the gap lever to the proper form thickness, and close the printer cover. Note : When the print becomes faint, you need to replace the ribbon cartridge. Otherwise, the print quality would be affected, and the printhead may be damaged.

    Connecting the printer to the PC The Documax 6390 printer supports USB, Ethernet, or Parallel interfaces. Interface cable connections are as follows: Install desired interface connection. Make sure that the power switch is turned to OFF and connect the appropriate cable(s) to the printer and the computer.
  • Page 11 PARALLEL CABLE CONNECTION Wire Clip Parallel Interface Parallel Cable ❖ Turn OFF both the computer and the printer. Plug the parallel cable securely into the printer's parallel interface. Squeeze the wire clips together until they lock in place on either side. The interface has a built-in feature that will automatically receive transmitted data on any of the active ports.

    Loading Paper Paper thickness adjustment Adjust the print gap lever inside the printer on the front right side to feed thicker paper and forms. The lever moves the printhead relative to the platen so that there is more room for the paper. Loading cut-sheet paper/forms Set the paper select lever located on the front right side of the printer to Cut-sheet (up position).

    When feeding paper under continuous paper mode, the printer tractor will feed continuous paper from back to front. Adjust paper tear off At the completion of a print job, the printer will feed the tractor paper to the tear off position automatically. Paper can be torn off along the window edge. If necessary, the paper perforation can be adjusted with the window edge utilizing the following procedure.

    Click on the “Setup.exe” file to begin the installation utility. Have your printer ready to connect when instructed. Click on the “Documax 6390” icon to select the driver. Click on the “Install” key to begin the driver installation. When prompted connect the interface cable and power ON the printer.

If the print data contains font instruction, FONT the printer gives priority to print data instruction.
