COOLING SYSTEM

Coolant Level Check
Check the coolant sight gauge. If the coolant cannot be
seen in the sight gauge, add coolant to the cooling sys-
tem before operating the truck. Refer to the following
section for the proper filling procedure.
Radiator Filling Procedure
The engine coolant must be visible in the sight
gauge before operating the truck. After operating
the truck, the cooling system will be pressurized
due to the thermal expansion of coolant. DO NOT
remove the radiator cap while the engine and cool-
ant are hot. Severe burns may result.
1. With the engine and coolant at ambient tempera-
ture, press the pressure relief button to release
any remaining pressure, and remove the radiator
cap.
NOTE: If the coolant is added using the Wiggins quick
fill system, the radiator cap must be removed prior to
adding the coolant.
2. Fill the radiator with the proper coolant mixture, as
specified by the engine manufacturer, until the
coolant is visible in the sight gauge.
3. Install the radiator cap.
4. Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle for five
minutes. Check the coolant level at the sight
gauge.
5. If the coolant is not visible in the sight gauge,
repeat the procedure. Any excess coolant will be
discharged through a vent hose after the engine
reaches normal operating temperature.
