SECTION B: GENERAL INFORMATION B-1) RECEIVING: Upon receiving the UltraSTEP System, it should be inspected for damage or shortages. If damage has occurred, file a claim immediately with the company that delivered the Pump Vault package. The product consists of five major components, the pump unit, pump vault, UltraSWITCH level control, electrical disconnect, solids separator, and a bag with an Installation manual and wire connectors, (See Figure 1).
SECTION C: INSTALLATION: C-1) LOCATION: The UltraSTEP product is designed for use with residential effluent septic tanks. This manual will help cover the proper installation and maintenance on these products. The UltraSTEP can be used with new or existing residential septic tank applications.
Backfill the conduit trench, discharge piping trench, and the remaining portion of the vault. The grade level should be to the mid-point of the vault. Measure from the bottom of the septic tank to the top of the 4” riser. Note this dimension as dimension “B”...
12. Add some non-hardening pipe sealant to the threads on the riser cap assembly. Some septic gases can be highly corrosive, care must be taken to seal riser cap assembly properly. Carefully guide the level switch and suction pipe attached to the cap, down the inside of the solids separator pipe.
Figure 6 C-3) Flexible Pipe Fitting Installation: The flexible pipe fitting for the inlet must be installed as follows: Find the location where the center of the coupling will be positioned on Septic Tank. Consult specifications for this location. Using a hole saw, cut a hole in the septic tank for the pipe fitting. (a 5" diameter hole for fiberglass & Poly Septic tanks, See Figure 6.
SECTION D: START-UP PROCEDURES: Fill the septic tank 80% full with water. Be sure that the pump has been primed and that a table spoon of non foaming liquid dishwasher detergent has been added to the suction line of the pump unit. IMPORTANT ! THE PUMP CAN BE SEVERELY DAMAGED IF IT IS RUN DRY.

F-2) Assembly: 1. Install slinger ring. 2. Attach discharge housing to motor (49) using screws and lockwashers. Be sure to center seal bore on shaft. 4. Install mechanical seal (47) in discharge housing using the following procedure: a.) Clean and oil sealing faces using clean oil (not grease). b.) Oil outer surfaces of the seal seat, and push assembly over the motor shaft and into the discharge housing seating it firmly and squarely.
