"Connecting the 2201/NMEA" on page 22.
9.
Turn on the 941/951/952 or other instrument and check
for the presence of WAAS signals.
10. If you experience any operating problems, see
"Troubleshooting installation problems" on page 30.
Before any drilling or cutting takes place, carefully choose a
mounting location for the 2201 that meets the following
criteria:
Mount the 2201 low on the vessel because rolling of the
vessel can degrade speed-over-ground (SOG) and
course-over-ground (COG) readings
Install the 2201 below the radiation plane of any
INMARSAT or radar antennas, and away from any other
high-power transmitting antennas.
Locate the 2201 where it has an adequate view of the sky.
Mount the 2201 high enough to provide an unobstructed
view of the sky in all directions, and minimize or eliminate
any objects that block the 2201's view of the sky. (The
2201 uses satellites down to zero degrees elevation or to
the horizon. If it isn't possible to obtain a completely clear
view of the horizon, a partial blockage is acceptable in
most cases.)
On sailboats, mount the 2201 low on the vessel, since
side-to-side motion caused by the vessel's rolling may
degrade SOG and COG readings.
Ensure that the 2201 has sufficient mounting clearance to
easily connect the cable.
