2. Unpack the carton, and compare its contents with those
on the packing list and what you ordered.
3. The shipping carton contains the following parts:
• Northstar 2201 or 2201/NMEA
•
3 mounting screws (10-32 UNF) and washers for deck
mounting
• 50-foot data/power cable with waterproof 7-pin
connector (Northstar part number 2201-CA)
•
DB9 connector kit (for 2201/NMEA only)
•

3 mounting screws and 3 washers,
(supplied for deck mounting)
50-foot 2201-CA data/power cable with

4. After inspecting the components, review all the
installation requirements, including:
•
the physical requirements (spacing, location with
regard to other equipment, etc.)
•
the electrical and electronic requirements
(interference between other pieces of equipment,
antennas, power requirements, etc.)
5. Preview/survey the vessel's layout and existing
equipment.
6. Select the desired mounting location; for details, see
"Choosing a mounting location" on page 13.
7. Fabricate the appropriate wiring; for details, see "Using
the 2201-CA cable" on page 17.
8. Connect the 2201 to the desired instrument and to
power: For the 2201 binary, see "Connecting the 2201
Northstar 2201 or 2201/
