13. ERROR MESSAGES

The instrument shows clear warning messages (refer to the instrument's on-display message area,
bottom of the screen) when erroneous conditions appear, and when measured values are outside the
expected range.
The information below provides an explanation of the errors and warnings, and recommended action
to be taken.
Displayed Message
"Temperature sensor broken"
"Temperature under/over range"
"Under/over compensation range"
"mV under/over range"
"Broken electrode"
"pH over range"
"pH under range"
"pH out of calibration range"
"Rel. mV offset range"
"Rel. mV under/over range"
"Factory calibration expired"
Explanation & Recommended Action
Temperature sensor needs to be replaced.
Temperature outside specified range.
Verify the temperature probe is correctly connected to the
meter. Replace probe if necessary.
During pH calibration, the temperature is under/over the pH
buffer compensation limit.
Outside range in the corresponding scale.
Ensure the glass bulb and reference junction are submerged and
the sample is within specified range.
Check that the glass bulb is completely filled with electrolyte
and there are no trapped air bubbles.
The meter fails to calibrate or gives faulty readings.
Replace the electrode.
Occurs when apparent pH value is more than 20.0 pH.
Dry membrane (or junction).
Soak electrode in
HI70300
minutes.
Occurs when apparent pH value is less than -2.0 pH.
Dry membrane (or junction).
Soak electrode in
HI70300
minutes.
Displayed when the measured value is outside calibration range.
Outside range in the corresponding scale.
Ensure the glass bulb and reference junction are submerged and
the sample is within specified range.
Check that the glass bulb is completely filled with electrolyte
and that there are no trapped air bubbles.
Contact the Hanna technical support for the periodic factory
calibration.
