ALWAYS wear safety goggles or protective eye-wear when operating the unit!
The surface should be dry, clean and free of oil spills, debris, etc.
Never stripe below 55° F and avoid extremely hot conditions.
NOTE: We do not recommend the use of "fast dry" paints.
(Paint that is ready for traffic in 15-30 minutes.)
There are many good traffic marking paints on the market.
Although these paints can vary greatly, with proper thinning
they will all work in your Newstripe paint striper. Some will
require little thinning, others a great deal. For best results,
thin the paint using the included viscometer.
Begin by mixing oil base paint so that it takes about 30
seconds to drain the viscometer cup. Water base paint (latex)
should drain in 20-25 seconds. Keep in mind that this is just a
starting point, different paints will spray differently and will
be affected by temperature and humidity, so experimenting
is essential to get the perfect viscosity (drain time) for the
paint you are using. See page 5 for Paint thinning Guide.
Picture 1 shows baffle plates adjusted to the line width
needed and position of spray nozzle. See spray head
adjustment for correct nozzle for the line width and surface
to be painted.
Picture 2 shows what a proper spray pattern should like. With
the correct nozzle installed for the particular line width you
want, the bottom edge of the fan spray should just strike the
bottom of the side baffle plates where they meet the
pavement. The spray should also be hitting the pavement
about halfway back from front (closed end) of the spray box.
The paint pressure should be 30-35 psi.
If the spray pattern does not "fan out" wide enough (as
shown in pictures 3 & 4) and the paint pressure is set as
above, the paint is too thick and should be thinned. If the
spray pattern is uneven and the spray stringy, the paint
should also be thinned.
NOTE: Clogged or restricted hose, filters, spray nozzle or
spray valve will also cause the spray pattern to not "fan out".
Always make sure the system is flushed out and clean after
every use.
