FI5-IS Intrinsically Safe Fieldbus Interface allows you to ca- librate Intrinsically Safe PROFIBUS PA fieldbus instruments. All you need is a fieldbus compatible MC5-IS and a FI5-IS suited for your fieldbus type. The MC5-IS/FI5-IS for PROFIBUS PA features listed below are presented in more detail further on in this manual.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA What is Fieldbus Fieldbus is an industrial digital communications network specif- ically designed for process automation use. It is meant to re- place the existing standard 4 … 20 mA analog signal.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Batteries The rechargeable battery inside FI5-IS provides supply power to the communication between MC5-IS and FI5-IS. With fresh, fully charged batteries, FI5-IS may be used for ap- prox. 10 hours without recharging. To save batteries, discon- nect the fieldbus cables when FI5-IS is not used.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Beamex is an environmentally conscious company developing products with a view to ensure that they are easy to recycle and do not introduce hazardous materials into the environ- ment.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Safety Symbols Used The following symbols concerning electrical safety are used in FI5-IS. Caution! See manual for further information Ex Information and Approvals Please read the separate leaflet shipped with FI5-IS entitled (in English) Safety Information for Beamex MC5-IS Intrinsically Safe Multifunction Calibrator.

User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Notes and Warnings This manual describes the use of MC5-IS and FI5-IS for PRO- FIBUS PA. For additional fieldbus information, please refer to your fieldbus control system manuals as well as the manuals for instruments to be calibrated.

The consequences may be serious damage, injuries or death! Using MC5-IS and FI5-IS to change the parameters of an instrument may result in discrepancies: A fieldbus host control system may mirror all instrument parameters in its permanent database.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Service FI5-IS may only be serviced by Beamex or a Beamex author- ized service. Contact: BEAMEX OY AB Ristisuonraitti 10 FIN-68600 Pietarsaari FINLAND E-mail: service@beamex.com Internet: http://www.beamex.com Opening of the casing of FI5-IS is not allowed due to ATEX safety reasons.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Terminology There are some inconsistencies between the terminologies used when calibrating/adjusting/trimming traditional analog in- struments and new fieldbus instruments. For both instrument types, the procedure has three phases: 1. Comparing the instrument against a more accurate de- vice (calibrator).
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA MC5-IS, FI5-IS and PROFIBUS PA Beamex's MC5-IS and FI5-IS together are the master of a PROFIBUS PA fieldbus segment. Since a PROFIBUS PA segment supports only one master per segment, MC5-IS and FI5-IS cannot be connected to a fieldbus segment that already has a master device.

Verifying Calibration, As Found Connect the instrument to MC5-IS/FI5-IS using one of the me- thod presented in chapter Connecting to a PROFIBUS PA Instrument, starting from page 17. Perform the Verifying Cali- bration using MC5-IS/FI5-IS for PROFIBUS PA as presented in chapters further on.
For contact info, see the first pages of this manual. The following chapters describe how available device descrip- tions can be viewed in MC5-IS and also how to add new de- vice descriptions to MC5-IS. Viewing Device Descriptions in MC5-IS To view device descrip- 3 0 .
If the highlight is as shown in the picture above, both FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA device de- scriptions are sent to MC5-IS. If you, e.g. have PROFIBUS PA instruments only, highlight corresponding row and send only PROFIBUS PA instrument device descriptions to MC5-IS.

User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Connecting to a PROFIBUS PA Instrument In order for MC5-IS/FI5-IS to be able to communicate with a PROFIBUS PA instrument, the instrument may not be con- trolled by any other PROFIBUS master than MC5-IS/FI5-IS.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Connections The following picture presents the connections: MC5-IS receives fieldbus data via FI5-IS Fieldbus Interface. Depending on the instrument's input signal, it is either gener- ated/simulated or measured with MC5-IS (not included in the picture).

The most likely one in need of editing is the unit. If MC5- IS supports the unit, it is shown as in the example picture above. If MC5-IS does not support the unit, a numeric value is shown instead of the unit.
User Guide – MC5-IS Fieldbus Option for PROFIBUS PA Target Mode Target Mode is an important Transducer Block parameter while calibrating instruments. That's why it is directly available via MC5-IS' menu. Use this to set the instrument in either OOS - Out Of Service or Auto - Automatic mode.
