To prevent electrostatic damage to cards in the rugged enclosure, attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap
to your wrist and to a bare metal surface on the chassis of the enclosure before you start the SFP
replacement process.
This section describes how to replace an SFP module.
Class 1 laser product. Statement 1008
To insert an SFP module into the SFP module slot, follow these steps:
Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap to your wrist and to a bare metal surface on the chassis.
Remove the antenna end cap by using a 3/8-inch socket wrench to loosen the bolts.
Disconnect the (LC) from the SFP module.
Tip
For reattachment, note which cable connector plug is send (TX) and which is receive (RX).
Insert a dust plug into each optical port of the SFP module to keep the optical interfaces clean.
To avoid damaging the optical surface, do not touch the optical surfaces.
Caution
Unlock and remove the SFP module, as shown in
Figure 4-2

Pull the bale-clasp latch out and down to eject the module. If the bale-clasp latch is obstructed and you
cannot use your index finger to open it, use a small, flat-blade screwdriver or other long, narrow
instrument to open the bale-clasp latch.
