Pressing the External Alarm Key key toggles the horn and lights feature. When enabled and the
ignition is off, the vehicle's horn will sound and the lights will flash to announce an incoming private/
phone call.
NOTE: The external alarm relay must be installed and the feature must be pre-programmed to
work.

Individual Call

Individual call is a point-to-point call between two TETRA radios.
The available individual calls are:

Private Call

Phone Call
Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) Call

Private Call
Private call, also called point-to-point call, enables communication between two individuals. No other
radio can hear the conversation.
This call type can be carried out in two ways:
Duplex Call
This call type is only allowed in Trunked Mode Operation (TMO). During this call, both parties can
speak at the same time.
Simplex Call
Available in TMO or Direct Mode Operation (DMO). Only one party can speak at a time.

Making Private Calls

Procedure:
1 From the home screen, enter a number.
2 If Private is not the first type of call presented, select it by repeatedly pressing Ctype.
3 If the Private Call Hook Customization feature is enabled, press Menu→Hook Method and
select the required hook method for simplex and duplex calls.
4 Press Done.
5 Use one of the following options:
Option
Making simplex calls in TMO or DMO
Making duplex calls in TMO
Actions
a Press and hold the PTT button.
b Wait for the Talk Permit tone before talk-
ing.
c Release the PTT button to listen.
a Press the Send key.
b You hear a ringing tone until the called
party answers the call.
