CORRECTING COMMON PROBLEMS

If a solution is not readily apparent, use the table below to help identify and correct specific malfunctions. After you
correct the malfunction, verify that the generator successfully completes the self-test.
Situation
Generator is on and the
accessory is activated, but
the generator does not deliver
output power.
Footswitch will not activate
output.
Continuous monitor
interference
Interference with other devices
only when generator is active.

Possible Cause
An error condition exists
Main board malfunction
Malfunctioning or damaged footswitch
receptacle
Footswitch activation signal lost on
main board.
Sensing circuit malfunction
Faulty chassis-to-ground connections
Electrical equipment is grounded to
different objects rather than a common
ground.
The generator may respond to the
resulting voltage differences between
grounded objects.
Malfunctioning monitor
Metal-to-metal sparking
High settings used for fulguration
Recommended Action
1. Check the bipolar displays for an error
code number.
2. Note the number and refer to the error codes
descriptions in this section.
1. Check and connect all connections from main
board to display board.
2. Replace main board.
Replace the Footswitch connector assembly.
1. Check/connect loose cable.
2. Replace the main board.
Replace the display board.
1. Check and correct the chassis ground
connections for the monitor and, if applicable,
for the generator.
2. Check other electrical equipment in the room for
defective grounds.
Plug all electrical equipment into line power at the
same location.
Replace the monitor.
Check all connections to the generator, patient
return electrode, and accessories.
Use lower power settings for fulguration or select
the Coagulation mode.
