If you have other options to install or remove, do so now; otherwise, replace the
side cover (see "Installing the side cover" on page 25 and replace the bezel (see
"Installing the bezel" on page 25); then, go to "Completing the installation" on page

Installing a SATA hard disk drive in bay 5

The server come with a Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drive. Before you install a
SATA hard disk drive, read the following information:
v Read the documentation that comes with the drive for cabling instructions.
v Route the cable before you install the drive. Do not block the airflow from the

Note: Each Serial ATA drive comes with a cable. If you install an additional
Serial ATA drive, you will need an additional cable. If you install the
optional ServeRAID-7t S-ATA controller, all SATA drives must be
connected to the ServeRAID-7t S-ATA controller instead of the system
board. The controller comes with two cables. See the optional
ServeRAID-7t S-ATA controller documentation for cabling instructions. You
can install the optional ServeRAID-7t S-ATA controller in slot 3 or slot 4.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and the "Installation
guidelines" on page 7.
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cables
and power cords.
3. Remove the side cover (see "Removing the side cover" on page 9).
