Troubleshooting

Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with
this component, check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other
components and electrical appliances being used. If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks
listed below, ask your nearest Pioneer authorized service center or your dealer to carry out repair work.
Important
• If the system does not operate normally due to external effects such as static electricity disconnect the power plug
from the outlet and insert again to return to normal operating conditions.
General
Problem
The power does not turn on
All settings are reset
Blue HDD indicator is blinking
and there is no sound
The disc is automatically ejected
after closing the disc tray
Can't play a disc
No picture
The picture is distorted
No sound or noise output when
playing a DTS audio CD
Remedy
• Connect the power plug to the wall outlet.
• Disconnect the power plug from the outlet, and insert again.
• If the system is unplugged (or there is a power failure) while the system is on, all
the settings will be lost.
• Make sure that you switch the system into standby before unplugging the power
cord.
• Unplug the unit, then plug back in. Wait for one minute then switch on.
• Make sure the fan at the rear of the subwoofer is not being blocked.
• Check that the speakers are connected correctly.
• Make sure the voltage of the mains power source is correct for the model.
• Make sure there are no loose strands of speaker wire touching the rear panel of
the subwoofer unit.
• If the problem persists, take it to your nearest Pioneer authorized service center
or your dealer for servicing.
• Check that the disc is not a DVD-RAM, DVD+R/RW or other incompatible format
disc (page 10).
• Check that the disc is loaded properly (aligned in disc tray and label-side up).
• Take out the disc and clean it (page 124).
• Check that the disc has a region code compatible with the system (page 124).
• Check that the disc is not a DVD-RAM, DVD+R/RW or other incompatible format
disc (page 10).
• Take out the disc and clean it (page 124).
• Check that the disc is loaded properly (aligned in disc tray and label-side up).
• There may be condensation in the main system unit. Leave for an hour or so for
the condensation to evaporate.
• During HDD recording, you can't play discs that are recorded with a Line System
different to the current system setting.
• Check that everything is connected properly (page 113).
• Check that the connected TV is set to the correct input.
• Change the Input Line System setting (page 100). (You can also change it by
pressing the –/
button and
DVD/HDD stopped.)
• Use the AUDIO button to select Stereo audio channel playback. DTS audio CDs
should always be played in Stereo.
