Troubleshooting Chart - Allied Systems H4A Operating Manual

PROBLEM
Winch gets very hot
(H4A will operate at 180°F)
Will not LINE-IN or LINE-OUT
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Low oil level.
Improper oil viscosity.
Winch coated with dirt.
Clogged fi lter or strainer.
Charge pressure too high.
Winch usage very high.
Pump not stroking, or brake not
releasing, due to:
1. Low charge pressure.
2. Leak in charge circuit.
3. Low oil level.
4. Clogged fi lter.
5. Wrong oil.
BRAKE-OFF clutch slipping.
Stuck in FREESPOOL.

Maintenance
CORRECTION
Add oil; refer to Figure 17, Oil Selection
Chart.
Use correct oil grade; refer to Figure 17, Oil
Selection Chart.
Clean winch.
Replace fi lter and/or clean strainer.
See Service Manual.
Add oil cooler and additional 3 gallons (11 L)
of oil.
1. See Service Manual.
2. Fix leak in system.
3. Add oil; refer to Figure 17, Oil Selection
Chart.
4. Replace fi lter.
5. Use correct oil grade; refer to Figure 17,
Oil Selection Chart.
Repair BRAKE-OFF clutch; see Service
Manual.
Repair FREESPOOL; see Service Manual.
