AIR CLEANER CHECK/CLEANING
A dirty air cleaner will restrict air flow to the carburetor,
reducing engine performance. If the engine is operated
in dusty areas, clean the air cleaner more often than
specified in the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.
Loosen the 6 x 16 mm special screw (1) and remove
the air cleaner cover (2).
Remove the air cleaner element (1) and outer filter
element (2) from the air cleaner case (3).
Operating the engine without an air filter element or with
a damaged air filter element will allow dirt to enter the
engine, causing rapid engine wear.
Inspect the air cleaner element and outer filter element
and replace if damaged.
