III. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Recommended fuel

Use only untreated chemically, natural wood, as well as wood briquettes without
bonding adhesives.
It is important that the wood be dry. Dry wood is called that has humidity below
20%. This is achieved by storing in a dry and airy place for at least 2 years. Logs are
stored shopped and arranged, as their thickness must be between 5 and 15 cm.
Why wet wood shouldn't be used?
Moisture in the wood reduces their heat when burning. Much of the heat is
spent to evaporate the water, and the rest may turn out insufficient to
provide the necessary heating. For example, 20 kg wet wood can mean 10 kg
of dry wood and 10 liters of water, added to the fire.
Water vapor decreases the combustion temperature and contributes to the
formation of soot, which accumulates and forms a black solid layer on the
walls of the combustion chamber, the glass ceramics, the pipes and the
chimneys.
Environmental pollution increases because the gases leave the chimney
unburned.
2. Kindling
The purpose of kindling is to warm up the walls of the combustion chamber, the
pipes and the chimney to create draft and a stable sustainable fire, as the task is to
kindle it form the first attempt with a matchstick, without repeated addition of paper
and kindlings.
Before lighting clean, the ash off the grate.
Fully open the primary air valve mounted on the door of the combustion
chamber or the ashpan and the flue valve for the flue gases leaving the slide
valve above the oven retracted inwards.
Put two chopped pieces of wood (logs) in the combustion chamber, parallel
to one another, on both sides of the grate.
Use paper, press it and place it on the front part of the grill between the logs.
Do not use glossy, printed or impregnated paper.
Place small dry kindlings on the paper. Easy-burning kindlings of softwood
are preferred. Arrange the kindlings so that they do not collapse and
suffocate (stifle) the emerging fire. Put some finely chopped wood on the
kindlings.
