BOUNCING TRACKS

When more simultaneous playback channels are needed, several Tracks may be recorded onto one Track
(mono) or two Tracks (stereo). In this example, ÒTrack bouncingÓ will be illustrated by recording Tracks 1-6
to a stereo pair on Tracks 7-8.
INPUTcTRACK mode
It is possible to bounce Tracks quickly in INPUTcTRACK mode using the following procedure.
A. Select INPUTcTRACK mode
1) Hold SHIFT and press SELECT (under MIXER MODE), to choose INPUTcTRACK mode.
2) Arrange the levels, pans and effects of Tracks 1-6 as needed.
B. Route MIX buss to Tracks 7 & 8
Here, we will select the Inputs for Track 7 and 8 to be the Mix Buss. This means that instead of
recording an audio Input, Track 7 and 8 will record the composite Mix of Tracks 1 through 6.
1) Press CH EDIT button 7 to select Track 7.
2) Hold SHIFT and press Input/BUSS (CH EDIT button 1).
3) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select MIX L as the Input for Track 7.
4) Press the CH EDIT button 8 to select Track 8.
5) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select MIX R as the Input for Track 8.
Tracks 7 and 8 are now assigned to record the output of the Mix Buss, and will also play what is coming
through channels 7 and 8 because theyÕre part of the Mix Buss. This will cause an audio feedback loop. To
eliminate the possibility of a feedback loop simply pull down the faders on channels 7 and 8, or use the
following procedure to take channels 7 and 8 out of the Mix Buss:
1) Press CH EDIT button 7 to select Track 7.
2) Hold SHIFT and press Input/BUSS (CH EDIT button 1).
3) Press the PARAMETER right button once to display ÒCH7 MIX Sw=.Ó
4) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select ÒOFF.Ó
5) Repeat this procedure for Track 8.
C. Record the bounce
1) Press the STATUS buttons on Tracks 7-8 until they are flashing red. This means that they are ready to
be recorded on.
2) Press REC and then PLAY to record (bounce) Tracks 1 through 6 to Tracks 7 and 8. You can use the
faders to mix levels in realtime and those changes will be recorded on Tracks 7 and 8.
INPUT MIX/TRACK MIX mode
Use the following procedure to bounce Tracks in INPUT MIX/TRACK MIX mode. Bouncing in this mode
makes it possible to combine live Tracks from the Inputs with the recorded Tracks.
A. Select INPUT MIX mode
1) Hold SHIFT and press SELECT (under MIXER MODE) to choose INPUT MIX mode.
B. Route Inputs 1 through 6 to buss 7-8
1) Press CH EDIT button 1 to select Input 1.
2) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to select Ò7-8Ó as the Buss routing for Input 1.
3) Press CH EDIT button 2, select Ò7-8Ó as the Buss routing for Input 2.
4) Repeat these steps for channels 3 and 4 (do this for 5 and 6 as well if you are using the digital Inputs).
C. Select TRACK MIX mode
1) Hold SHIFT and press SELECT (under MIXER MODE) to choose TRACK MIX mode.
D. Route Tracks 1 through 6 to buss 7-8
