Auto Punch
Another excellent feature to help you with recording on the VS-880 is Auto Punch. The Auto Punch
function allows you to automatically punch-in and out while recording, leaving your hands free to play
your instrument and preventing you from accidentally punching-in or out at the wrong time.
1) Press the LOCATOR button (under EDIT CONDITION) several times until ÒAPinÓ (Auto Punch-in) is
displayed.
2) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to set the desired punch-in point. This is the point at which recording will
automatically begin.
3) Press the PARAMETER right button once to display ÒAPOtÓ (Auto Punch-out).
4) Use the TIME/VALUE dial to set the desired punch-out point. This is the point at which recording will
automatically end.
5) Press the AUTO PUNCH button under the LOCATOR section. The orange light above the button will
turn on.
6) Press REC followed by PLAY.
7) The REC light will flash until the Auto Punch-in point is reached and it remains solid. It will turn off
after the Auto Punch-out point is reached.
NOTE: To manually Punch In in the middle of a Track, press PLAY. When you get to the desired Punch
In point, press REC.
Short cut for setting Loop Recording and Auto Punch points
HereÕs a hint to make the process of setting LOOP and AUTO PUNCH points faster and easier. Play the song
up to the place where you want the loop or punch-in to begin. When you find it, press the LOC 1 button
under the LOCATOR section (the orange light above the button will turn on) to establish this point as the
first locator point. Then, find the place in the song where you want the loop to repeat or the punch-out
point. Press the LOC 2 button. You have now set two locate points which you can use to setup the loop.
Once we have established our locate points for the start and end of the loop (or the punch-in/punch-out points),
you can use the LOC buttons to define them. If you make a mistake setting a LOCATOR, hold the CLEAR button
and the press the LOCATOR button that has an incorrect setting. (The orange light will turn off). You can then
reset that locate point at the correct time.
Loop Recording
1) Press the LOCATOR button (under EDIT CONDITION) several times until ÒLpStÓ is displayed.
2) While holding the LOOP button, press the LOC 1 button and then the LOC 2 button.
3) If you press the PARAMETER right button you will see that the ÒLpEdÓ point has been set to the time
defined by the LOC 2 button. The same is true with the ÒLpStÓ time and the LOC 1 button. Press the
PARAMETER left button to confirm this setting.
Continue with Step 5 in the Loop Recording section (p.21).
