Configuring TCP/IP or UDP Plus on the Intermec Computer

3 Browse to the .cab file and tap the .cab file. The .cab file starts installing
the dcBrowser client. When the installation is complete, the .cab file is
automatically deleted.
You can now configure and start the dcBrowser client. For help, see
"Configuring TCP/IP or UDP Plus on the Intermec Computer" on
page 40.
Before you can run the dcBrowser client, you need to configure your
Intermec computer for networking and then configure dcBrowser to use
either TCP/IP or UDP Plus.
What You Need to Configure
Protocol Additional Items to Configure
TCP/IP You need to determine the dcBrowser gateway port number (which
defaults to 4055) and the IP address of the computer where the
dcBrowser gateway is hosted.
UDP Plus You need to determine the UDP Plus port number (which defaults to
5555) and the IP address of the controller, which is the Intermec
Application Server or PC that the dcBrowser gateway is running on.
You need to perform these tasks:
• Configure the Intermec computer for networking.
• Configure the Intermec computer for TCP/IP or UDP Plus
communications.
To configure a computer for networking
1 Select Start > Settings. The Control Panel appears.
2 Tap the Connections tab.
3 Tap Network Cards.
4 Select the network adapter you are using for your network
configuration. For example, use the 802.11b PRISM Wireless LAN
adapter if your network is configured with an 802.11b wireless access
point.
5 If you are using a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server,
select Use server-assigned IP address.
If you are not using a DHCP server, select Use specific IP address and
enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for your mobile
computer. Your network administrator should provide you with this
information.
6 Tap OK. A message appears; tap OK.
7 Tap OK in the upper right. Tap it again when the next screen appears.
