While some installations will never see the need to lubricate the linear motion
system, here is how to proceed, should the need arise.

IMPORTANT: While it may be tempting to lubricate the tracks, it has been
shown that this only attracts dirt. Only the carriage should be lubricated,
following the method described below.
Follow the instructions to access the base compartment (see page 84).
Locate the two tracks (rails) fastened to the bottom of the unit's casing.
Wipe down the tracks with a clean, dry rag. Do NOT lubricate the tracks.
Using an appropriate grease gun, inject lithium-based grease into the grease
nipple of each carriage. (The carriages are recirculating ball bearing devices
that glide onto the tracks. On one end, they are each fitted with a special
nipple designed for lubricant injection.)
Manually slide the carriages back and forth several times. This will spread the
grease inside the carriages.
The result should be a smooth, continuous motion of the carriages.
In the unlikely case that you feel there is a need to adjust the belt tension,
adjust the position of the front motor so that the tension in both belts is the
same, and the tension is such that the belts are just under tension when the
carriages reach either end of the stroke.
