WARNING
If engines are shut off, direction-
al control is not available. Never
leave the DESS key connected on
the DESS post when boat is not
in operation to avoid unauthorized
use by children, theft or others.

Post-Operation Care

WARNING
Allow engines to cool before per-
forming any maintenance.
General Care
Once boat is on trailer, unscrew the
drain plug, block the wheels and raise
the bow slightly with the trailer jack to
allow water to drain.
Remove any remaining water that is
left in the engine compartment (bilge,
engines, etc.) with clean dry rags.
This is particularly important in salt wa-
ter use.
Remove the boat from the water ev-
ery day to prevent growth of marine
organisms.
Anticorrosion Treatment
To prevent corrosion, spray a corrosion
inhibitor (salt water resistant) such as
XP-S Lube lubricant or equivalent over
metallic components in engine com-
partment.
NOTE: Engine fogging should be done
with XP-S Lube lubricant whenever
the boat is to be stored for few days
or a long period.
Apply dielectric grease (salt water re-
sistant) on battery posts and cable
connectors.
CAUTION: Never leave rags or tools
in the engine compartment or in the
bilge.
Additional Care for Foul
Water or Salt Water Use
When the boat is operated in foul wa-
ter and particularly in salt water, addi-
tional care must be taken to protect
the boat and its components. Rinse
trailer and boat's hull/bilge area with
fresh water.
Flushing the exhaust systems with
fresh water is essential to neutral-
ize corroding effects of salt or other
chemical products present in water. It
will help to remove sand, salt, shells or
other particles in water jackets and/or
hoses.
Flushing should be performed when
the boat is not expected to be used
further the same day or when the boat
is stored for any extended time.
Perform this operation in a well
ventilated area.
Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM FLUSH-
ING in STORAGE AND PRESEASON
PREPARATION section for procedure.
CAUTION: Failure to perform prop-
er care such as: rinsing, exhaust
cooling system flushing and anti-
corrosion treatment, when used in
salt water, will result in damage to
the boat and its components. Nev-
er leave the boat stored in direct
sunlight.
In coastal areas, special care should
also be taken on stainless steel or
chrome parts like grab handles, moor-
ing cleats, fuel cap and navigation
lights. Rinse with fresh water. Clean
with a good car chrome polish. Pro-
tect with a good car or fiberglass wax.
