Connecting a programming device

4.6.1

Connecting the PROFINET cable

The connection of a programming device is required under the following circumstances:
● If a project has to be transmitted to the S7 CPU of the carrier controller
● If the diagnostics buffer is to be read out
Electrical accident through contact
The RAIL contact conductors are connected to 48 V AC, while the L1, L2 and L3 contact
conductors are operated on a voltage of 400/500 V AC. Contact with components carrying
these live voltages poses the risk of an electrical accident. Such an accident can result in
physical injury or death.
Always adhere to the necessary safety measures taken for the respective electrical system
components.
Electrical accident through fault
A mechanical fault in the contact conductor system of the system can result in a short-
circuit between the L1, L2 or L3 contact conductors and the RAIL contact conductors.
Contact with components on live 400/500 V AC can result in an electrical accident. Such an
accident can result in physical injury or death.
Always adhere to the necessary safety measures taken for the respective electrical system
components.
Observe the "Safety instructions" section in the "EMS400S Plant controller for Electric
Monorail Systems" system manual.
NOTICE
Equipotential bonding
If you connect a programming device without having provided an appropriate equipotential
bonding circuit between the carrier controller and programming device, you will risk damage
to the modules of the carrier controller and of the programming device.
Make sure that you provide appropriate equipotential bonding before you connect a
programming device.
Observe the information in the section "Connecting functional ground (Page 29)".
