8 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I run multiple simultaneous operations (such as push ten buttons
simultaneously)?
In a Velbus system there is only communication on the data bus when a button
is pressed or released. For example, during the process of dimming a light
fixture, the data bus is empty. Multiple buttons being pressed simultaneously
will not cause any problems at all.
What happens to my system if the data bus power is lost?
Once the power comes back, all relay modules will be open for the sake of
safety. If this would create discomfort you can program your installation to be
set to a certain state on power up:
program a virtual relay to set all desired channels of your installation
to the right states at startup. For instance, if you want a light to be "on"
on startup, configure an "on" action between the virtual relay
"startup" (initiator) and the relay channel (subject).
next,, configure a (virtual) button to activate this virtual relay during
one second (use action no. 15, restartable timer, with "time at short
press" set to 1 second).
finally, set the (virtual) button to "Normally Closed". (Select the
module, click on the "configure" symbol
set the button to NC by double-clicking on it). On power up, the button
will instantly close, sending a "1 second on" signal to the virtual relay,
which in turn will activate the chosen outputs.
You can also buffer the power supply with a battery backup system, so that all
modules retain their status.
To what extent is logical programming possible?
A modular system can have some limits as far as programming goes.
However, Velbus solves this by using several strategies, making complex
programming possible. This way, almost anything can be achieved with a
Velbus installation.
