HDCD Indicators
There are different types of HDCD recordings.
Below are the different indicators which may be
displayed during playback.
1) Green LED in the right side of the display
window.
This will mean that a Pacific Microsonics analog-
to-digital converter was used in the making of the
recording. There is no actual HDCD decoding
taking place if only the green LED is illuminated
in the display window. This is not a true HDCD
recording.
2) Green LED, plus the letters
in front of
44 on the display are illuminated.
This means you're listening to an actual HDCD
recording and that HDCD encoding is being
decoded.
Pre-emphasis Indicators
The letters Pre in front of the sample rate on
the right-hand side of the display.
This means that a track has been detected which
was recorded with pre-emphasis and the proper
de-emphasis EQ is being applied.
