4 Troubleshooting
Precautions
Before starting work, make sure that the safety instructions in the chapter

DANGER: Electrical Hazard
Troubleshooting a live control panel exposes personnel to
hazardous voltages. Electrical troubleshooting must be done by
a qualified electrician.
DANGER: Electrical Hazard
Before starting work on the unit, make sure that the unit and the
control panel are isolated from the power supply and cannot be
energized. This applies to the control circuit as well.
4.1 Common problems
Fault
The pump fails to start
The pump rotates in the wrong
direction
The pump starts but runs
unsatisfactorily
Start 151/161/156 Installation and Operation Manual
(page 2) have been read and understood.
Reason
No power supply to the pump
The motor protection breaker
trips.
The internal connections of the
motor are wrong.
Low voltage
The motor cable phase
conductors are probably mixed
up.
4 Troubleshooting
Action
Check the main fuses.
Check that the main switch is
closed.
Let the motor cool down, and
then restart the pump.
Contact a Xylem service
representative.
Cables are too long or under-
dimensioned.
Check that the connection agrees
with the connection diagram and
correct if necessary.
