OPERATING MODES
Monitor
Default setting. Operates as a
monitor.
Provides continuous alarm
concentration updates.
Relative agent concentrations
provided, roughly equivalent to the
following:
 0 – 25: Below alarm threshold
 26 – 50: Low
 51 – 75: Medium
 76 – 100: High
AGENT MODES
Three modes for selecting Agents and Irritants to identify.
Each mode is exclusive; the instrument can only detect and identify the
agent(s) or irritant(s) specific to the selected mode.

DECONTAMINATION/MAINTENANCE
If you suspect that the APD 2000 is contaminated, perform the following
decontamination procedures (Note - Limit your work area to avoid
spreading contamination. Use protective gloves while decontaminating):
1.
Press [POWER] button to shut unit off.
2.
Remove filtered nozzle standoff from nozzle and discard as
contaminated waste.
3.
Lightly dampen cloth wipe with water and wipe nozzle thoroughly.
Do not get nozzle wet with soap and water to avoid contamination.
Discard cloth swipe as contaminated waste.
4.
Reinstall nozzle protective cap over nozzle.
5.
Decontaminate unit with a cloth and hot soapy water. Wipe dry with
a clean cloth or let air dry.
6.
Check effectiveness of decontamination with M256-series detector
kit, M8/M9 detector paper or another APD 2000.
7.
If the unit is still contaminated, repeat steps 5 &6 until
decontamination is complete.
8.
Remove nozzle protective cap from nozzle and install a new filtered
nozzle standoff on the nozzle.
9.
Press [POWER] button to turn unit on. The unit will purge itself of
any internal contamination. Let unit run until display returns to
"READY CW".
APD 2000 MANUAL
Detect
Operates as a point sample
detector.
The unit alarms when agent is
detected then goes into backflush
and clears down.
The APD is ready to detect agent
again within 5 minutes.
