Recovery CD

The Recovery CD can
reinstall the software to its
original state when you
purchased the computer.
You also have the option of
restoring your computer to
the way it was when you
performed the last User
Backup.
Tip
User Backup creates
USER.PQI files. These files are
read-only—you cannot edit
their contents.
Did you know ...
Everything added to the drive
since the last User Backup is
lost when you perform a User
Recovery.

Using the Recovery CD

When you restart your computer with the Recovery CD in the
drive, the following menu is displayed:
Option
Emergency Creates a recovery diskette which stores the software
Diskette option information that came with your computer. This
information is needed to restore your computer to the
condition it was in when you first unpacked it.
User Creates a backup of the C drive. The backup is stored on
Backup the D drive in USER.PQI files.
User Extracts the data in the USER.PQI files from the D drive
Restore and restores the desktop to the settings existing at the
time of your last User Backup. Any files, data, or
programs you added after your last User Backup are
deleted.
Factory Restores the computer to its original factory condition.
Restore You will need to re-enter your factory registration
information again, and you may be prompted to insert
your emergency disk. Any files, data, or programs you
added after receiving your computer are deleted.
Exit Exits the Recovery CD.
