Daisy Chaining

To control even more computers, up to 31 additional KH1508A / KH1516A/
KH1532A KVM switches can be daisy chained from the original KH1508A /
KH1516A/ KH1532A switch. As many as 1024 computers can be controlled
from a single console in a complete installation.
Note: If you wish to include KH1532A into your daisy chain, you must have
a KH1532A as the first station.
Refer to the ATEN website for a list of ATEN switches that can be installed on
a KH1508A / KH1516A/ KH1532A daisy chain.
Refer to Connection Tables on page 73 for tables showing the relation between
the number of computers and the required number of KH1508A / KH1516A/
KH1532A units to control these computers.
To set up a daisy chained installation, do the following:
1. Connect a daisy chain cable between the chain out port of the first station
KH1508A / KH1516A/ KH1532A unit to the chain in port of the chained
station KH1508A / KH1516A/ KH1532A unit (first station out to second
station in, second station out to third station in, etc.).
Note: 1. You cannot use the chain in port of the first station, since it is the
highest level first station.
2. Daisy chain cable sets require a separate purchase. See your
dealer for details.
2. Connect the computers and the switches, Single Station Installation on
page 14 can be used as the reference.
3. Repeat the above for any other switches you want to add to the chain.
4. Power up the installation according to the following procedure:
a) Plug in the power cord for the first station. Wait for the unit to ascertain
its station ID and display it on the Station ID LED. (The station ID for
the first stage unit is 01, the ID for the second stage unit is 02, the ID for
the third stage unit is 03, etc.)
b) Power on each station on the installation in turn (second station, then
third station, etc.). In each case, WAIT for the station ID to be
ascertained and displayed before powering on the next station.
