Chapter 2 Hardware Setup Overview For convenience and flexibility that allows mixing the PS/2, USB, and serial device interfaces, as well as multiple platforms, the KH1508i / KH1516i's design utilizes KVM Adapter Cables (CPU Modules), that serve as intermediaries between the switch and the connected devices (refer to the installation diagram on page 13).

To change a setting use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to move the highlight bar to it then press [Enter]. After you select an item, a submenu with further choices appears.

Local Console Operation F5 SKP This function enables you to easily skip backward or forward, switching the console focus from the currently active KVM Port to the previous or next available one. The selection of computers to be available for Skip Mode switching is made with the Scan/Skip Mode setting under the F3 SET function (see page 26).
KH1508i / KH1516i User Manual F6 IP This function allows you to select whether to assign the KH1508i / KH1516i’s IP address dynamically (DHCP), or to give it a fixed IP address. Press [Enter] to toggle between the choices. If you toggle DHCP Enable to Off, specify the IP, Mask, and Gateway in the appropriate fields.
Chapter 4. Local Console Operation F8 LOUT Pressing [F8] logs you out of OSD control of the computers, and blanks the Console screen. This is different from simply pressing [Esc] when you are at the Main Screen to deactivate the OSD. With this function you must log in all over again to regain access to the OSD, whereas with [Esc], all you have to do to reenter the OSD is tap the OSD Hotkey.
KH1508i / KH1516i User Manual Keyboard Port Operation Overview In addition to the OSD, the KH1508i / KH1516i also supports port control directly from the keyboard with the use of hotkey combinations. Hotkey port control allows you to provide KVM focus to a particular computer directly from the keyboard.

The OSD can be accessed either with a Windows-based client or a Java-based client. In order to perform remote operations, you must first log in via an Internet browser to connect to the KH1508i / KH1516i.

Chapter 7. Windows Client Port Operation The Button Bar The buttons on the Button Bar are toggles. Their actions are described in the table below: Button Action Enable/Disable Chat. When disabled, messages posted to the board are not displayed. The button is shadowed when Chat is disabled. The KH1508i / KH1516i provides the following hotkey features: Auto Scanning Skip Mode Switching The hotkeys are: A and P for Auto Scanning; and the Arrow Keys for Skip Mode.
KH1508i / KH1516i User Manual Pausing Auto Scan While you are in Auto Scan Mode, you can pause the scanning in order to keep the focus on a particular computer by pressing P. During the time that Auto Scanning is paused, the S in front of the Port ID blinks On and Off. Pausing when you want to keep the focus on a particular computer is more convenient than Exiting Auto Scan Mode because when you Resume scanning, you start from where you left off.
Chapter 7. Windows Client Port Operation Keyboard and Mouse Considerations Keystrokes Except for [Alt + Tab] and [Ctrl + Alt + Del], all keyboard input is sent to the remote system. The above two chorded key combinations are retained on the local system to switch among applications and to recover from disaster.
KH1508i / KH1516i User Manual Mouse Synchronization Until you close the KH1508i / KH1516i connection, mouse movements have no effect on your local system, but instead are captured and sent to the remote system. From time to time, especially if you change video resolution, the local mouse movement may no longer be synchronized with the remote system's mouse pointer.
