5. Install (#7) thrust washer with the tab in the keyway of (#1) output shaft and (#8) lock washer.
6. Install (#9) lock nut and tighten to 30 ft-lbs (41 Nm). Rotate the hub clockwise twenty turns then counter-
clockwise twenty turns. Tighten (#9) lock nut to 50 ft-lbs (68 Nm). Repeat the hub rotation process in this step
and then tighten (#9) to 70 ft-lbs (95 Nm).
7. Secure (#9) lock nut buy bending the (#8) lock nut tab into one of the 4 slots of (#9) lock nut. Note: If no tab
from (#8) lock washer aligns with a slot of (#9) lock nut, tighten (#9) lock nut until one of the slots aligns with
(#8) lock washer tab.
8. Clean the mating surface and apply a bead of silicone sealant to the face of (#6) hub that mates with (#10)
ring gear. Refer to instructions on the sealant package for application. Assemble (#10) ring gear to (#6) hub,
being careful to align the bolt holes.
9. Assemble (#11) secondary carrier assembly in (#10) ring gear, aligning the gear teeth. The carrier splines
will mesh with the splines on (#11) output shaft.
10. Install (#12) sun gear into (#11) secondary carrier assembly. (#12) sun gear should turn freely by hand
when assembled.
11. Apply a bead of silicone sealant to cover the face of (#10) ring gear. Secure (#13) thrust washer, using a
small amount of grease or silicone sealant, with the tangs engaged in (#14) cover. Assemble (#14) cover to
(#10) ring gear.
12. Install twelve (#17) hex head cap screws and 12 (#16) washers. Torque to 45-50 ft-lbs (60-68 Nm).
13. Position the filler opening vertically and fill it with lubricant to the proper level.
Carrier Assemblies
It is recommended that the secondary carrier assembly be serviced in its entirety to protect the integrity of the
Power Wheel Drive Unit.
