Auger Drive Unit
1. Only operate this unit after thoroughly reading and understanding this Operator's Manual.
2. Inspect the Auger teeth and points for wear or breakage. Replace as necessary. It is advisable to keep spare
points and teeth on hand.
3. Before lowering, remove the hairpin from the auger systems locking pin. Once lowered, secure the locking
pin back in place.
4. Place the diverter valve lever in the "UP" position to engage the auger system hydraulics.
5. Raise the auger off the ground, set the skid loader engine to a low RPM setting, activate the auger control
valve.
6. The operator must determine the suitable auger speed and skid loader RPMs before digging. Higher RPMs
are generally used for light and sandy soil. Lower RPMs are required for hard, rocky or frozen soil.
Increase or decrease the skid loader engine RPMs accordingly.
7. Place the auger control valve to the neutral position to stop the auger. Lower the auger so that it touches the
ground and penetrates about 2 inches.
● Warning: Avoid excessive side loading to the auger, preventing damage.
8. Activate the auger control valve so that the auger is tuning in a clockwise rotation. Only use enough down
force to start the point to dig.
● Warning: Do not apply excessive pressure or the auger may stall. If this happens, release some
pressure from the auger.
9. Once the auger digs approximately 24", raise the auger high enough to clean out the hole. Repeat until the
desired depth is achieved.
10. Under certain conditions, the auger may become stuck. In this situation, do not attempt to raise the auger!
Stop, reverse the auger rotation by moving the control valve lever to the reverse position and slowly raise
the auger. Once the auger is free, return the control valve lever back to the forward position and commence
digging.
11. When the desired depth is achieved, all the auger to continue to turn a few seconds longer to clean out the
hole.
12. Repeat steps 10 & 11 if necessary for a cleaner hole.
