R6000S Operation Manual: Rev. G
1.4.1.3
Alarm Indications
A mechanical contact is provided as a common trouble alarm for the following conditions.
Low Furnace Temperature
Alarm is provided when furnace temperature is below 980ºC.
High Furnace Temperature
Alarm is provided when the furnace temperature exceeds 1150ºC. A relay on p/n 58903 Interface Board
located in the furnace section will open and, in turn, open a relay that provides power to the furnace.
Effectively, power to the furnace is lost and the furnace will begin to cool. This is a latching alarm. The
instrument must be turned OFF and the furnace allowed to cool below 1100°C before the alarm will
unlatch and allow the furnace to heat.
Low Oxygen Pressure
Alarm is provided when the oxygen pressure decreases below 28 psig.
Low Total Gas Flow
Alarm is provided when sample flow is lost or is reduced by approximately one half.
The alarm light on the front panel of the furnace module provides a visual indication of low oxygen
pressure. It also provides a visual indication for high furnace temperature and low total gas flow.
The alarm light will illuminate and flash as follows:
Low Oxygen Pressure
Light ON steady
Low Total Gas Flow
Light ON three seconds - OFF one second
High Furnace Temperature
Light ON one second - OFF three seconds
Low Furnace Temperature
No light. Temperature controller serves as a visual indication.
NOTE: If two or more fault conditions exist simultaneously, the light will be ON steady.
