6.1.1. Global Controls

The following global controls cover the Sequencer Panel's overall settings:
Voltage Controlled Clock Generator: Sets the speed of the sequence. The button
with the musical note opens a pop-up to determine whether and how the
sequence will sync to your DAW's tempo.
The choices are: Hz (no tempo sync) or Sync / Sync Triplets / Sync Dotted for various note
lengths. The control's range is 0.100 Hz to 100 Hz in Hz mode, and 8 bars to 1.32 note in any
of the Sync rate types.
Under this control and the Power button (which turns off the sequencer, just as the Upper
Toolbar Sequencer power button does), an associated control for Clock Speed Modulation
allows for external CV control of the sequencer speed.
Sequence Mode: Sets the way in which the sequencer will play through its steps.
Clicking on the display pops up this menu:
There are six available Pattern types. The first three are labeled A + B + C, which means that
the three Channels run in parallel, each one sending its own CV per Step. The last three are
labeled AB + C, which means that Channels A and B are now chained together to make a
sequence with twice as many steps, while Channel C continues to run on its own.
Each Pattern can run in Loop mode, which means that the sequence cycles uninterrupted,
regardless of when keys are pressed; Loop Retrig mode, where the sequence resets to the
first step every time a key is pressed; and Single, which means that a keypress causes the
sequence to play once and then stop.
Sequence Length: sets the number of Steps in the sequence from 1 to 12. Double-
clicking the knob sets it to 8 steps.
Swing: sets the amount of swing in the sequence timing, from 50% (no swing) to
75% (heavy swing). Double-clicking the knob sets it to 50%.
If you're not used to using Swing in a sequence, start out with a value of about 67%. This is a
common Swing value and will sound familiar and catchy.
