5.4.2. The Envelope Generators
An Envelope Generator is a control voltage that starts, changes, and then stops, according
to settings for several stages that it passes through. Both of KORG MS-20 V's Envelope
Generators are variations on the traditional ADSR ( Attack , Decay , Sustain , Release ) type.
Double-clicking on any control sets it to a default value – generally the shortest possible time
a stage can provide, and maximum Sustain.
Envelope Generator 1 (EG1) is by default routed to Pitch Modulation, MG Frequency, and
secondary VCA (available in the patchbay). It has three stages:
Delay Time: The Delay time is just what it sounds like: a time delay between
•
pressing a key and the start of the Attack. (0 ms to 13.300 seconds)
Attack Time is the time that the sound will take to reach its maximum volume
•
once we start the envelope. (3 ms to 60.800 seconds)
Release Time is the time that the sound will take to drop back to silence once we
•
stop the envelope. (51 ms to 70.400 seconds)
Between the end of the Attack and the beginning of the Release, EG1 will sustain at its
maximum value.
