ABOUT THE TEST MODE
The test mode of this unit can be operated only when the MAIN
board is replaced.
A walkman who has not replaced the MAIN board with a new
MAIN board cannot execute the test mode.
For details on the test mode, refer to "IMPORTANT NOTE OF RE-
PLACING THE MAIN BOARD" on page 8 and "3. TEST MODE"
on page 40.
ABOUT REPAIRING OF EACH BOARD
When each board installed in this unit are defective, it is replace the
complete mounted board or the whole parts including the applicable
board. Electrical parts that mounted on the board cannot be replaced.
Also, schematic diagram, printed wiring board and electrical parts
list have not described in this service manual.
JIG
When disassembling or assembling this unit, prepare the following
jig.
• Tool for disassembling
Use it according to the purpose of disassembling, such as removing
the rear case.

ATTACHING AND REMOVING CASSETTE-PLAYER-STYLE
SOFT CASE (NW-A100TPS only)
NW-A100TPS is supplied with a cassette-player-style soft case.
Refer to the fi gure below for how to install or remove the cassette-
player-style soft case.

1. Check the location of the N-Mark on the Walkman before at-
taching the soft case.
2. Make sure that the Walkman is securely fi tted inside the soft
case.
3. Avoid applying strong pressure when attaching or removing the
soft case.
4. Refrain from wrapping the headphone cable around the soft case
during use.
5. Do not put stickers, etc. on the soft case.
6. Refrain from using commercial solvents such as benzene or al-
cohol to clean the soft case, as doing so may cause discoloration
or deterioration.
7. The soft case uses a magnet. Do not bring a magnetic card.
8. Do not place this product close to medical devices.
