Update firmware
Get the firmware from the FTP site:
1. Login to our FTP site at: ftp.reftek.com/pub as:
User name: anonymous
Password: Your E-mail address
2. Find the 130-MC firmware at ftp.reftek.com/pub/130/cpu/prom/MC.
3. Download the zip file of the most recently released firmware version.
Update firmware process with a Flash:
Updating firmware in a 130-MC requires the presence of a firmware file on a Compact Flash
device.
1. On power-up, the 130-MC checks the Compact Flash for the presence of a 'main.s3' firmware file in
the root directory.
2. If the 'main.s3' file is present on the Compact Flash, the 130-MC:
1. Reads the file
2. DELETES the file
3. Re-programs the internal flash memory.
CAUTION: DO NOT DISTURB THE UNIT DURING THIS PROCESS.
User parameters stored in SPROM using the WP command will be erased when a firmware
update is performed.
DAS power must be above 11.5V for a firmware update.
The firmware can be updated by one of the following methods:
Update the firmware of a 130-MC using a PC
1. Unzip the 'main.s3' file from the downloaded zip file of the most recently released firmware.
2. Copy the desired firmware image to the root of the Micro drive device as 'main.s3' using a PC with a
CF card reader
3. With the Compact Flash with the main.s3 image installed in the 130-MC, issue a reset (RS) command.
Update the firmware if at the 130-MC
1. Install the Compact Flash™ with the main.s3 image in the 130-MC.
2. Physically disconnect and reconnect power to the DAS unit.
3. Observe the LCD for the following messages.
READING DISK DO NOT DISTURB
WRITING FLASH DO NOT DISTURB
4. The 130-MC DAS resets and returns to normal messaging.
To transfer firmware to the 130-MC using RT130-SM
To copy the firmware file to the 130-MC:
1. Put the "main.s3" firmware on the local drive or PC.
