7. Switch the tool on. Wait until the auto leveling
procedure has ended. Check that inclination is set
to 0.000 %.
8. Bring the receiver into position so that the ro-
tating laser beam is detected and indicated by
the horizontal bar and emission of a continuous
audible signal.
9. Mark the position (X2).
10. Measure the distance between the first mark (X1)
and the second mark (X2). If this distance is less
than 5 mm, no calibration is necessary.
NOTE If the distance between the two marks is
greater than 5 mm, please contact your local Hilti
Service Center.
7.8.2 Checking inclination error 9
Carry out this test only once the previously described
"Horizontal error" test has been completed.
NOTE
A measuring staff with a millimeter scale must be
used due to the accuracy requirement of this test.
1. Hammer two nails into the ground at a distance
of exactly 30 meters from each other. Mark the
nails with the designations "nail 1" and "nail 2".

8. Care and maintenance

8.1 Cleaning and drying
1. Blow dust off the lenses.
2. Do not touch the glass with the fingers.
3. Use only a clean, soft cloth for cleaning. If neces-
sary, moisten the cloth slightly with pure alcohol
or a little water.
NOTE Do not use any other liquids as these may
damage the plastic components.
4. Observe the temperature limits when storing your
equipment. This is particularly important in winter
/ summer if the equipment is kept inside a motor
vehicle (-30°C to +60°C).
8.2 Storage
Remove the tool from its case if it has become wet.
The tool, its carrying case and accessories should
be cleaned and dried (at maximum 40°C / 104°F).
Repack the equipment only once it is completely dry.
Check the accuracy of the equipment before it is used
after a long period of storage or transportation.

2. Set up the tool on a tripod at a distance of 1 to 2
meters from nail 1, in alignment with nails 1 and
2. Position the tool so that the X-axis is exactly in
alignment with nails 1 and 2.
3. Switch the tool on. Check that inclination is set
to 0.000 %. Switch the PA 350 laser receiver on
and set it to maximum accuracy mode. Use the
measuring staff to read the height of the laser
beam (in millimeters) at nails 1 and 2 and then
write down the height for nail 1 as "h1" and the
height for nail 2 as "h2".
4. Set the inclination of the X-axis to 1.000 %. Read
the height of the laser beam (in millimeters) again
at nails 1 and 2 and then write down these heights
as "h3" (for nail 1) and "h4" (for nail 2).
5. Incorporate the height measurements h1, h2, h3
and h4 in the formula below. In the formula, the
distance between nails 1 and 2 (30 meters) is
given as 30,000 millimeters.
(h2 - h4) - (h1 - h3) x 100
x(%) = -------------------------------
Remove the batteries from the tool before storing it
for a long period. Leaking batteries may damage the
tool.
8.3 Transport
Use the Hilti toolbox or packaging of equivalent quality
for transporting or shipping your equipment.
CAUTION
Always remove the batteries before shipping the
tool.
8.4 Hilti calibration service
We recommend that the tool is checked by the Hilti
calibration service at regular intervals in order to
verify its reliability in accordance with standards and
legal requirements.
Use can be made of the Hilti calibration service
at any time, but checking at least once a year is
recommended.
