Checkpoint Environment Requirements
Checkpoint cameras are mainly installed in urban roads, highways, and other places far away
from intersections. Before site survey and installation, ensure that the installation environment
meets the following requirements:
Illumination: at least 50 lux (can be measured by an illuminometer).
The outdoor illumination may be too high under direct sunlight. Therefore, try to avoid direct sunlight.
The illumination on urban roads at night is insufficient. To clearly capture images at night, you need to
install external illuminators for the camera.
Light
direction: even illumination, no backlight or highlight
Lane requirements:
Ensure that the road section within 50 m in front of and behind the camera is straight. Ensure that there
are no traffic lights within 200 m in front of or behind the camera. Otherwise, vehicles may queue up.
At some intersections, there are multiple lanes for diverting vehicles with different driving directions. In
this case, it is recommended that cameras be installed
location where there are fewer lanes to facilitate license plate capture and recognition.
Avoid capturing bus stations
in the camera view. Vehicles may occlude each other at bus stations,
which affects license plate capture and recognition.
If there are
street lamps and other light sources
lights that
are not controlled by your camera.
Avoid capturing irrelevant objects, such as
such as glass
in the camera view.
Others:
Ensure that the pole or beam can withstand at least four times the total weight of the camera, housing,
and bracket.
Take waterproofing measures to prevent water from entering your camera.

Typical installation diagram of a
checkpoint camera
This document applies to a scenario where standard
checkpoint cameras are installed on poles with a height of
around 6 m ( ± 0.5 m).
In the case of a non-standard scenario, contact Huawei
engineers to evaluate the feasibility of the scheme.
