1. Park the machine on a level surface and set the parking brake. Stop the
engine, wait for all moving parts to stop and remove the key.
2. Disconnect the battery by removing the negative battery cable first, then
the positive cable from the battery.
3. Remove 10 (T-40) self-tapping screws securing the rear engine guard and
muffler shield to the chassis. Remove the muffler shield and rear engine
guard.

4. Remove the deck tensioner spring from the spring hook.

5. Using an appropriate lifting device, raise the machine. Remove the deck
belt from the clutch pulley.
