CAUTION
The SRS driver airbag deploys with
D
considerable force and can cause
death or serious injury, especially if
the driver is very close to the airbag.
The driver airbag risk zone is the first
D
50—75 mm of inflation. Therefore,
placing yourself 250 mm from your
driver airbag will minimise your risk
of sustaining injuries when the airbag
inflates. This distance is measured
from the centre of the steering wheel
to your breastbone. If you sit less than
250 mm away from the driver airbag,
consider changing your driving posi-
tion in the following ways:
Move your seat backwards as far as
D
you can while still reaching the pe-
dals comfortably.
Slightly recline the back of your
D
seat. If reclining the back of the seat
impedes your view of the road, raise
your seat if your vehicle has that
feature.
If your steering wheel is adjustable,
D
tilt it downwards. This will point the
airbag toward your chest instead of
at your head and neck.
Always ensure that you maintain con-
D
trol of the foot pedals, steering wheel
and your view of the instrument panel
controls and the road.
