Problem
The display goes blank by itself after you have
been using it.
The Built-in Display does not close.
The Built-in Display has bright or dark spots.
T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g
Possible Cause
1. Your notebook has gone into Standby Mode,
Suspend Mode or Save-to-Disk Mode because
you have not used it for a period of time.
2. Something is pushing on the Closed Cover
Switch. (See Figure 1-5 on page 5.)
3. The Power Savings timeouts may be set for
very short intervals and you failed to notice the
display come on and go o again.
1. A foreign object such as a paper clip is stuck
between the display and the keyboard.
1. If the spots are very tiny and few in number
this is normal for a large LCD display.
2. If the spots are numerous or large enough to
interfere with your operation.

Possible Solution
1 . Use the keyboa rd or poi n ter and if that doe s
not re s tore opera ti on , push the Re sume But ton.
You may want to close the app l i c a ti on and Go
to the Setup Uti l i ty Power Savi n gs Menu and
ad just the ti m eo ut va lues to bet ter suit yo u r
opera ti on . (See the Power Savi n gs Menu on
pa ges 69–72, and Power Ma n a gem ent Co n trols
on pa ges 20–22.)
2. Clear the display shuto button.
3. Press any key or move the pointer, if this
doesn't work press the Resume Button.
1. Remove all foreign objects from the
keyboard.
1. This is normal – do nothing.
2. Display is faulty, contact your support
representative.
