(2) Setting the head address
The talker area head address is set using the talker block head setting switches (TBH, TBL)
located on the side face of the module, while the listener area head address is set using the
listener block head setting switches (LBH, LBL). Set these switches to block numbers
described in the previous item.
Therefore, the head addresses are addresses in 2 words in Area 1, while they are addresses
in 32 words in Area 2. The relationship between the block numbers and the addresses in the
common memory area is as follows:
Area 1: common memory address = [block number] x [2 (decimal)]
Area 2: common memory address = [block number] x [32 (decimal)]
(3) Lengths of the talker and listener areas
The heads of the talker and listener areas are determined using the talker block head/listener
block head setting switches as described in the previous item.
The talker and listener area lengths are determined by the types of I/O modules to be installed
in the base unit and the number of the modules.
Talker area length: total of data length of the input modules in use
Listener area length: total of data length of the output modules in use
For the number of words used by each of I/O modules, see Chapter 4.
(4) I/O module status information
The first 4 words of the talker area contain the status information of the I/O modules.

(a) Healthy counter
This counter indicates that the FL654A performs inputs and outputs normally. When an
input/output cycle is normally executed, one count is incremented. Input/output cycles vary
depending on the I/O module configuration, and one count is incremented in 200 ms at
worst.
Note that when the counter is incremented up to 0FFFh, it automatically returns to 0000h.
