However, the torque- adjustment ring is engaged only during screw-driving mode (it is not engaged in the drill and hammer-drilling modes).

Release the variable-speed trigger switch immediately, reverse the direction of rotation and gently squeeze the variable-speed trigger switch to remove the bit from the workpiece. Investigate and correct the cause of stalling before resuming work.
