Conditions: uninterrupted DFB laser source module output
power, constant wavelength and power level settings, coherence
control off, controlled environment and time span as specified.
Measurement: with wavelength meter. Averaging time given by
wavelength meter 1 s.
Max. output power
The highest optical power obtainable at the end of a single-mode
fiber patchcord.
Conditions: at default wavelength.
Measurement: with power meter at the end of a single-mode
fiber patchcord.
Power CW stability
The change of the power level during given time span, expressed
as ± half the span (in dB) between the highest and lowest
measured power.
Conditions: uninterrupted DFB laser source module output
power, constant wavelength and power level settings, controlled
environment and time span as specified.
Measurement: with optical power meter.
Sidemode suppression ratio (SMSR)
The ratio of the optical power of the main mode to the optical
power of the highest sidemode expressed in dB.
Conditions: at a specified output power and wavelength,
coherence control off.
Measurement: with the optical spectrum analyzer Agilent
81642B, resolution bandwidth 0.06 nm.
Polarization extinction ratio (PER)
The ratio of optical power in the slow axis of the
polarization-maintaining fiber to optical power in the fast axis.
Measurement: with a polarization analyzer by mechanically
stressing the Panda fiber.
