How to clean lenses

Agilent DFB Laser Source Module User's Guide
Some lenses have special coatings that are sensitive to solvents,
grease, liquid and mechanical abrasion. Take extra care when
cleaning lenses with these coatings.
Lens assemblies consisting of several lenses are not normally
sealed. Therefore, use as little alcohol as possible, as it can get
between the lenses and in doing so can change the properties of
projection.
Preferred Procedure
Use the following procedure on most occasions.
Clean the lens by rubbing a new, dry cotton swab over the

surface using a small circular movement.
Blow away any remaining lint with compressed air.

Procedure for Stubborn Dirt
Use this procedure when there is greasy dirt on the lens:
Moisten a new cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol.

Clean the lens by rubbing the cotton swab over the surface

using a small circular movement.
Using a new, dry cotton swab remove the alcohol, any

dissolved sediment and dust.
Blow away any remaining lint with compressed air.
